Back between 1958-61 my family ( the whole lot of us) had a picnic witch was on a Sunday noon. At that time my Great Uncle farmed the land that V.S. was on. I remember that there was s gold fish pond at the springs, and were 12 to 16 inches long. As for the hotel it was in dire shape from party goers and the like. We were told at that time that Abe Lincoln had made a peach at the hotel, and that it was a stage coach stopping point. At that time we had to carry the picnic baskets food and all from main road. Was a great place to visit, one could just imagine what took place 100 plus years ago. Good luck to WIU on rebuilding, it was a great place to visit.
